38. Noise abatement procedures
The purpose of noise abatement procedures is to reduce the impact of aircraft noise on the airport and in populated areas affected by take-off and landing operations
• In order to protect and reduce noise in populated areas, powered and auxiliary aircraft may perform local flight routes as described in published documents
• Flying above built-up residential and rest areas with powered aircraft below 1000 FT AGL is only permitted when performing landing and take-off procedures, except in emergency procedures
• Training flights should be grouped so that different exercises follow each other as much as possible, in order to avoid continuous noise pollution of the same populated area
• After maintenance and repair of aircraft, it may be necessary to perform a functional test of the aircraft engines. This activity can only be performed during airport opening hours
• Flight operations after sunset are not possible
• Demonstration flights and technical flights can only be performed during opening hours
Compliance with noise abatement procedures is not mandatory in the following cases:
• operations of aircraft such as urgent humanitarian or emergency search and rescue operations, medical assistance, patient transport and disaster relief
• aircraft involved in state operations, including military, customs, police, firefighting or law enforcement or national security operations, the restrictions do not apply even in the exceptional case where compliance with them would endanger flight safety in the given circumstances. In all cases, the party invoking it must justify the flight safety reason if the aircraft is in a state of emergency.
