Continuous Descent Approach (CDA) and Continuous Climb Departures (CCD) test flights

 — 1. Introduction

Within the validity period of this AIC Continuous Descent Approach (CDA) and Continuous Climb Departures operation will be tested for traffic to and out of Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (LHBP). Testing of CDA and CCD operation will depend on the expected traffic load within Budapest TMA.

Aircraft operators might expect beginning of CDA operation already from FL300 towards LHBP.

During tests CCD operation could be granted only within Budapest FIR. CCD operation until requested flight level is subject of clearances received from adjacent ATC units.

 — 2. Description of the CDA tests.

Pilots can expect the shortest possible closed routing defined by waypoints which are part of the published transition procedures. In case of a shortcut/direct to clearance, exact track miles information will be provided so that the optimal descend profile can be computed.

Since routing is going to be based on the shortest possible one for all arrivals, obeying speed restrictions issued by ATCO is of the utmost importance.

 — 3. General information

The test of CDA operation will be executed basically in cooperation of WIZZ AIR, but since there will be no special experimental CDA routes introduced ATC may offer CDA operation to other operators too.

CCD operation will be available for all operators.

At the request of air traffic controller or the crew, the CDA procedure can be stopped and radar vectoring will be provided.

 — 4. Usability

The CDA test flights will be performed in H24 for traffic using RWY 31R or 13R for landing.

The availability of CDA operation depends on expected traffic situation within Budapest TMA and will be offered by ATC after previous coordination.
